Somebody To Adore

(Rob Christensen)
“Somebody To Adore” is part of a trilogy of songs about isolation, the desire to get out, and the fear of trying. You get older and more set in your ways and it’s harder to change your life. You know it needs changing, but you’ll get to it tomorrow. You see people younger and prettier making the mistakes you wish you could still make. You want that person. You want to be that person. You don’t want to be “you” anymore.
Somebody To Adore

I dance in the shadows
There's safety in solitude, my dear.
Looking for someone
Who'll help us feel somewhat secure.

Willing and able.
Are we trying hard enough?
TV's so easy.
But try to find a real love.

Tell me why I don't speak.
I think I see things differently.
I haven't ever felt love.
In my hands it's slippery.

verse two:
Is it so simple?
The world will kill you in the end.
Look out for my love.
I wish I could call her my friend.

But something is missing.
She gets security where she sleeps.
And he hits harder sometimes.
But she'd still never sleep with me.

Tell me, do you still laugh?
Is it funny anymore?
I want somebody who cares.
I want somebody to adore.

He takes her for granted.
She should take him for everything.
I think she's so pretty.
I think that I should let it be.

If nothing is easy
Why is it easier for some?
Patience, persistance.
You know someday our day will come.
