Where Red Roses Fall

(Rob Christensen)
“Where Red Roses Fall” was started after a first date didn’t happen. I know I blew it way out of proportion in the lyric, but I was really looking forward to going out with this girl. The song developed as the relationship didn’t. Funny, all these years later this girl is one of my best friends. “Red Roses” was in danger of sounding like several of my other songs until Michael Karo, playing with my drum machine, came up with the beat that I later used for the song. Sometimes it’s good to throw a wrench into the works.
Where Red Roses Fall

Sometimes these things happen
It's a lying, waking dream
She's sparkling in her innocence
Some things aren't as they seem.

She drives a little I-don't-know-what
She drives too fast 'round curves
She’s driving me a little bit crazy right now
I guess you get what you deserve.

I'm always waiting for her call
I'm a sucker for a knuckleball
I can always be found where red roses fall.

She takes me to the deep end
And tries to make me swim
She leaves me all alone, all alone out there
And I'm just sinking in.

Times like this I climb the walls
Soaking in distress and alcohol.
I'm always waiting for her call
I'm a sucker for a knuckleball
I can always be found where red roses fall.

She won't let me in. She doesn't kick me out
She wants to be my friend. She wants me to go without.

She won't let anything affect her
She has so much effect on me.
She's steady in her march toward something.
Just like I should be.

Times like this I climb the walls
Soaking in distress and alcohol.
I'm always waiting for her call
I'm a sucker for a knuckleball
I can always be found where red roses fall.
Yeah, I can always be found where red roses fall.
